Love and Basketball (well, one out of two)

Just a quick note on my favorite sport: basketball. I have mentioned before that the Huskies kick ass. The ladies are number 7 in the country and climbing. Tonight they have their first nationally televised game against number 9 Perdue. I predict that we will kick some ass. It's on ESPN2 tonight at 7PM EST if you would like to watch the awesometude of my school in action

Edit/recap: WE WON!!! 66-55!!! That was one of the most exciting things I have ever been a part of. Thats right, been a part of. The crowd was truly the sixths man on the court tonight. We were on our feet the whole time. On a semi-related side note: Mel Thomas, if you are reading this, please marry me. Thanks

NEW SEGMENT! MOVIE OF THE DAY

Todays movie is Top Gun. A perfect example of the 80's movie. You got your sexy male lead, a girl who can hold her own, and a goofy sidekick. There are two good things about this movie. One is its ability to be a guy's chick flick. It's one of the few. The second is the totally cool sayings like "I got the need. The need for speed." and "That son of a bitch cut me off!". Fun fact: Val Kilmer didn't want to be in this movie, but was forced to due to contractual obligations. Maybe that explains his bored performance. This is classic pre-crazy Cruise.

Mostly random stuff, sorry

I am not one who usually gets all into the whole sports thing, but my school (UCONN) happens to be very prominent in both the mens and womens versions of basketball. I have been watching the Lady Huskies play since their first tournament win in 1995 and I have since seen three more wins and some amazing players. I just got back from a game where they beat Boston University 84 to 51. I can't say how much I love to watch college basketball.

On to TV. I really like to watch good programing. My favorite shows are House, Lost, Studio 60, Heroes, and The Daily Show. I am ashamed to admit that I watch a lot of MTV. Rob & Big is my new addiction, along with Yo Mamma and The Real World. It's a good thing nobody is going to read this, right?

I recently purchased a collection of short stories by Roald Dahl. I had read most of his stuff for kids, and I did a report on two of his short stories in high school, but this collection contained most of his short stories, and I really wanted to read them. They are excellent. If you can't shell out the 30 bucks to buy it, find the stories entitled "Lamb to the Slaughter", "The Sound Machine", and "The Great Grammatizator". They are funny and slightly twisted.

I will now close out the post in the way that I will from now on, with a quote that I like:
"No one knows what its like to be the bad man, to be the sad man behind blue eyes"

(P.S. : This post isn't really organized or unified. I'll try to make the remainder more focused...)
